Trip Overview

The 3-Day Lake Tanganyika & Source of the Nile Tour offers incredible safari adventures as you explore the beautiful Bujumbura City, the vast Lake Tanganyika—the world’s second deepest lake—and the source of the Nile, the world’s second longest river.

Day 1: Arrival and Bujumbura City Tour

Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed and escorted to your hotel. Spend half the day touring Bujumbura City, visiting the cultural and snake museum, the memorial, the city hall, Lake Tanganyika, the Islamic Culture Centre, and the President’s Office.

Day 2: Transfer to the Source of the Nile

Travel over 120 kilometers to visit the genuine source of the Great Nile at Rutovu. In the evening, drive back to Bujumbura.

Day 3: Bujumbura City Tour

In the morning, visit the Memorial of the Explorers, a massive rock on the outskirts of Bujumbura that commemorates the meeting of explorers Hanington and John Speke. Explore the local market, downtown Bujumbura, and the crafts centre. After lunch, catch your return flight.
