5 Days Kidepo National Park

Day 1: Transfer to Kitgum/Gulu

The first day of your 5 Days Kidepo National Park safari is primarily for travel. Considering the journey requires about 11-12 hours to reach the park, you will be picked up early at 7:00 am. Start your journey to Gulu, which takes about 7-8 hours. Given the distance to Kidepo National Park, located in northeastern Uganda bordering Kenya and South Sudan, a break in Gulu is necessary.

You will have a stopover for about 2 to 3 hours at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking, providing a chance to see the rhinos, which are only found in this sanctuary. Enjoy your lunch and proceed to Gulu town, arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Churchill Hotel Gulu.

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park – Game Drive

On the second day, you will make the final drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. After breakfast, embark on a 3-hour drive to Kidepo National Park. Once there, enjoy a game drive in Narus Valley, anticipating sightings of buffaloes, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs. Enjoy a leisurely drive with opportunities to stop for photos and take in the scenery. Spend the evening at the lodge, admiring the wilderness. Dinner and overnight at Nga Moru Wilderness Camp (mid-range) or Kidepo Savannah Lodge (budget).

Day 3: Game Drive and Cultural Walk

On the third day, begin with a rewarding game drive through the open savannah, rocky outcrops, forests, and rings of mountains. Drive extensively up to Kanangorok Hot Springs, capturing photo opportunities and wildlife sightings, especially lions. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, head out for a cultural tour to the Karamojong people for a truly unique experience. The Karamojong culture remains pure and distinctive, as they live traditionally as pastoralists. Their unique way of life is evident in their dressing, cooking, dancing, and daily activities. This visit provides a rewarding cultural experience. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Game Drive and Transfer to Gulu

On the fourth day, enjoy another game drive before heading back to Gulu. After breakfast and checking out of the lodge, embark on your last game drive in the wilderness, each day offering new sights and increasing your wildlife count. Transfer to Gulu, enjoy lunch, and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Dinner and overnight stay at Churchill Hotel Gulu.

Day 5: Kampala and Departure

On the final day, have an early breakfast and proceed to Kampala with lunch en-route, arriving in the late afternoon. You will then transfer to Entebbe airport for your onward flight or be dropped at your hotel in either Entebbe or Kampala.
